Former McDonald's worker shares secret hack to make fries 'so much better'

Ruby has told Macca's fans to forget salt on their fries, she has a tastier alternative. But not all stores will do it.

A former McDonald's employee has spilled the beans on the burger chain's top secrets, revealing a little-known request that she says makes Macca's fries 10 times better.

Instead of regular salt on the beloved fast-food menu item, ask for Angus seasoning instead, she suggested in a video on TikTok. "It's literally so good you can't go back to normal seasoning," she said.

The seasoning in question is what's used on the Angus burger patty and includes salt and pepper plus a range of spices, including garlic and onion powder. The former worker named Ruby said it's the "best thing" ever and is "so much better than normal salt," suggesting to anyone who enjoys the chips to try it.

'Literally the best thing'

In the social media video which has now racked up over 285,000 views, Ruby tells her followers to "stop scrolling and hear me out" as she shared her love of the simple menu hack, flashing her large chips sprinkled in the good stuff.

"I'm a former Macca's employee and if you have not done this with your fries, you need to go to Macca's and ask for Angus seasoning on your fries because it is literally the best thing," she exclaimed. "Like, so much better than normal salt and it tastes so good".

"Macca's fries are already amazing" but they taste even better with the burger seasoning, she added.

Macca's customers refused fries request

After seeing the video, McDonald's fans were keen to try out the suggestion, but to their disappointment, most were refused.

"I asked at my local Macca's today and they said no," one revealed in the comments. "I came back for this video because you stiched me up. The Macca's workers have no idea wtf Angus seasoning is, I've never been so embarrassed," said another.

Ruby, from Victoria, suggested trying other stores as it might be that not all staff are across it. "I work at Macca's and someone asked me for this today and I was so confused," a fast-food worker shared in the comments, admitting "it makes sense now" after seeing the clip.

"As a Macca's manager I can confirm it’s so so good," another employee chimed in while another suggested trying "Angus seasoning on nuggets with Big Mac sauce".

Maccas responds to menu change item

A McDonald's spokesperson confirmed to Yahoo News Australia that "Angus seasoning goes onto our Angus patties."

"This is not an option on our menu and it will vary from restaurant to restaurant, on whether our teams are able to fulfil this [request]," they said on Thursday. "Customers would need to request it via front counter or drive thru and chat to our friendly crew on shift to see if it’s possible."
