Man dies after clothes get tangled in boat motor

A man has died from his injuries after falling off his boat in southeast Queensland.

Police say the 51-year-old fell overboard while manoeuvring his boat near South Stradbroke Island late on Wednesday afternoon.

Chief Superintendent Mark Wheeler says the man's clothes may have become entangled in the boat's motor.

People on a nearby boat pulled the man out of the water and tried CPR before taking him to a jetty at Paradise Point.

Emergency services arrived to help but the man died at the scene.
