Man accused of groping hands himself in to police
An elderly Gold Coast man accused of groping a young mum has turned himself in to police.
It’s alleged the 78-year-old is the same man caught on film by 20-year-old Laura Filliponi while she played with her two-year-old son on Main Beach on Wednesday.
Video shows a man asking Ms Filliponi out for coffee; she refuses and he offers her money, which she also turns down.
The man then appears to grab her breast and try to kiss her. She later confronts him in the carpark – condemning him for his actions.
On Friday, a 78-year-old man turned himself in to police. He’s been issued with a notice to appear in court on a sexual assault charge.
Since the matter is now before the courts, police would not comment on whether the man provided a reason or explanation for his alleged behaviour.
However, they said he did show remorse.
The 78-year-old will face court on July 2.
