The alligator is seen gliding along the water in the video, the shark is somewhat harder to spot, but still fairly visibly.

People shocked by 'impressive footage'

The post with the videos has quickly gotten a lot reaction on Facebook.

"No flipping way?!!! My boys will never kayak with me again!!" one person commented on the post.

"Wow that’s impressive footage. Good job! Big ole gator too!" another person said.

Speaking to CBS Miami, Mr Vinson said he was shocked to see the alligator, though he admitted he was on the lookout for bull sharks.

"They both are kinda out of place if you ask me," he said.

"The water in the Indian River is brackish and normally you think of sharks in the ocean and alligators in fresh water.

"I only started seeing bull sharks here a few years back."
