A newly sold home has become a viral sensation after a local boy shared content to TikTok, purely because the home is ‘skinny’.
The home in Chicago was listed earlier this month and sold for $260,000 ($A365,346), however there is one detail that has confused people online - how slim the home is.
Front on, the home appears to be pretty large, however, when viewing the home on the side, the house appears to be little more than a metre wide.
The home became a viral sensation when the teenager posted a video of the home on the video sharing platform TikTok.
“How does someone live there?” someone asked in the comments on TikTok.
“But like, how do the stairs work? Another asked.
“Are they just an entire corner? Are they spiral? Is it just a LADDER?”
According to the listing, the home is somewhat iconic, and is known locally as the ‘Pie House’.
“This iconic home is larger than appears, with over 1600 square feet of living space including the finished basement.”
The home reportedly has a lot of natural light, hardwood floors and has “lots of character”. It boasts two bedrooms, including the one in the basements, two and a half bathrooms and open-plan living on the main floor.
One person in the comments of the TikTok video pointed out that the other side of the home is wider, with images from the listing backing up that claim.
“I’m so confused how everything fits inside,” one person commented.
“It looks as wide as my couch.”
According to the Chicago Tribune, the lot is small for the suburbs, but is still larger than most single family homes in Chicago.
When the home was built in 2003, there were a few complaints about the design, the Tribune said, however over the years, the bizarre home has been accepted by the locals.
