Hobart man bags $2 million lotto prize on Father's Day: 'Shock to the system'

A Hobart man received the ultimate Father's Day gift on Sunday after he discovered he won a whopping $2 million in prize money from the weekend's TattsLotto draw.

The stunned Tasmanian held one of the 10 division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4291 on Saturday 3 September.

"Oh Jesus. Oh God. This is unreal. I'll have to try and calm down a bit," the man exclaimed after learning about his sudden windfall. "I can't believe it. It's just amazing! It's doing my head in. It's a bit of a shock to the system."

The man said he had been playing the same numbers for decades but couldn't really remember why he chose them.

"I've played them every week and it's finally paid off," he said in disbelief. "I've won other prizes along the way, but nothing quite like this."

The man's winning marked 12-game entry was purchased at Sorell Lucky Agency, 31 Gordon Street, Sorell.

"I'll help my children first, and then after that, I don't really know. Maybe some holidays around Australia," he said, describing how he would spend the jackpot prize.

To think we had made someone a multi-millionaire overnight," O'Shea exclaimed, adding that although she isn't sure how many of the tickets the store has sold over the years, they had sold two division one winning entries in the past 18 months and "can't wait" to do it again.
