Man in shock after winning lottery twice in just over a year: ‘Never in a million years’

A NSW man has been left flabbergasted after winning the lottery not once but twice, only a year apart.

The Alstonville resident won the guaranteed 1st prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1586, drawn on August 16.

“I was in a little bit of shock!” he said to an official from The Lott this morning.

“Never in a million years would I have thought this day would come around again.

“To a certain degree, I would believe I’m lucky, but I’d hope to one day win the Jackpot Prize!"

The happy man found out he won last Wednesday and said he wanted to take some time before announcing anything to The Lott officials.

"I’ve taken some time to claim it. I said to myself, ‘I’m not going to rush it this time," he said.

“I’ll celebrate with some friends when we go on holiday together!”

His first win – a $100,000 Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot – happened in May last year, which he celebrated by getting his Covid vaccination and a trip to Brisbane.

“When I won a bit over a year ago, I went on a vacation to Brisbane as travel restrictions were limited. I also bought a brand-new television, paid off some bills, and took some time off work," he said.

Alstonville Newsagency celebrate another win

Alstonville Newsagency owner Ray Smith said he was over the moon when he heard his team had sold another 1st prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries.

“This is wonderful news for our community! We’ve put up signage and balloons all through our outlet, and our staff are very excited,” he said.

“Our store has sold eight major lottery wins, ranging from Monday & Wednesday Lotto, Saturday Lotto, Lucky Lotteries Super and Mega Jackpot, and Powerball.

“It’s a great feeling to see the happiness it brings to our winners, and we look forward to many more great outcomes."
