Lotto winner hasn't slept since waking up $5.3 million richer: 'My life has changed'
A Sydney dad has confessed he's had several sleepless nights after becoming Australia's newest multi-millionaire in this weekend's Saturday Lotto jackpot.
The man, from Baulkham Hills in Sydney's north-west, won the entire $5.3 million prize as the only division one winning entry in Saturday Lotto draw 4275, drawn July 9.
"I haven’t slept for two nights!" confessed the winner when speaking to an official from The Lott over the phone.
The Western Sydney man revealed that he discovered his newfound fortune on Saturday night when he checked his ticket.
"On Saturday night, I checked my ticket and there were the numbers all lit up," he said.
"I was really happy. You can't believe how happy I am," he laughed.
"My life has changed."
The lucky winner shared that his family has been unable to sleep from all of the excitement around their multi-millionaire status.
'I've been playing for seven years, and I've finally won it'
As a seasoned Saturday Lotto player, the man said he was surprised to learn he was the only division one winner in the draw – which is typically shared between multiple players.
"I play Saturday Lotto all the time, and normally there are four or five division one winners. But to be the only division one winner is incredible. I've been playing for seven years, and I've finally won it," he cried.
While he normally marked his Saturday Lotto entry with his own set of numbers, the winner shared his win was from a ticket his adult daughter bought him.
"I usually play my own special numbers, but I asked my daughter to get my ticket this week. She didn't have my numbers on her, so just grabbed a QuickPick. And that's what won it," he laughed.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4275 were 6, 23, 44, 43, 37 and 30, while the supplementary numbers were 45 and 1.
'It's going to change our lives'
When asked how he planned to spend his windfall, the lucky winner didn't hesitate to share his family's plans.
"We've been planning lots of things. We want to buy land and build a house for the family," he said.
Adding: "I also want to help a number of people get ahead."
However, he did reveal that he didn't plan on handing in his notice at work just yet.
"I'll probably still work, but maybe I can do something for myself," he said.
"It's going to change our lives."
The man's winning entry was purchased at The Paper Shoppe in Baulkham Hills.
More chances to become a millionaire
The Lott's division one winning tally has now reached 236 so far this calendar year, including 62 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
There are more chances to win big with Oz Lotto offering $3 million, while Thursday's Powerball has $8 million up for grabs.
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is $12.05 million for draw 1581 and the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is $18.22 million for draw 10611.
