Heartwarming news for couple who survived the Las Vegas shooting

Mykenzie Lane and her partner Brandon Helmick experienced the terrifying shooting at the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas last October, but the couple have a lot to look forward to, after Mr Helmick popped the question.

The pair, who have reportedly been together for about three years and are now planning the big day, are grateful they survived the ordeal, where 58 people were killed and hundreds more were injured.

Ms Lane told Fox News they have “endless amounts of blessings to be thankful for every day because we’re still here.”

Mr Helmick, 21, reportedly shielded Ms Lane, 22, by throwing his body over hers during the ordeal last October at the music festival.

“Our relationship has always meant the world to me,” said Ms Lane.

“But when someone sacrifices their life for you, how could you ever get more reassurance than that?”

The couple had tried to run for shelter when Ms Lane’s ankle was grazed a bullet, Fox News reports.

But Mr Helmick made sure Ms Lane made it to safety.

“From that point, he said we have to find a way to the hospital. I tried to walk but couldn’t, so he threw me on his back and carried me until we found an ambulance,” Ms Lane said.

It is reported that when the pair came across an ambulance there were people “who needed much more help” in it, so they ended up in an Uber.

The couple are due to get married on August 3.
