Boyfriend reveals tragic twist in death of Instagram star
There’s been a sad twist revealed in the death of an Instagram star.
Emily Hartridge, 35, died in an accident in London on July 12 after her electric scooter crashed into a truck.
Her 63,000-strong Instagram following mourned her death.
“I just can’t believe it, this is heartbreaking. She was the most beautiful girl inside and out,” one woman wrote.
Her partner Jake Hazell told The Sun he bought the scooter for Ms Hartridge for her birthday in May.
Mr Hazell told the publication Ms Hartridge was on her way to a fertility clinic when she was involved in the crash. The couple were planning on having a baby.
“It was a terrible accident which has left a hole in our lives,” he said.
“Emily was the most beautiful person I’ve ever met.”
In the UK, electric scooters are illegal on public roads and pavements.
UK Transport Minister Michael Ellis told The Guardian he’s planning on meeting a number of rideshare companies and retailers about how to better communicate the law to consumers.
"We are examining whether they can be used safely on the road — and if so, how that should be regulated to ensure the public's safety,” he told the Guardian.
"However, companies must understand that reviewing laws does not necessarily mean laws will change.”
Metro Police are yet to make an arrest in relation to Ms Hartridge’s death.
