Girl, 11, finds parents dead in bed after Covid diagnosis

An 11-year-old girl has tragically found both of her parents dead in their bed as they quarantined and tried to recover from a recent coronavirus diagnosis.

The couple from the US state of Missouri were both in their 40s and had received positive Covid-19 test results.

It’s unknown how long the pair had been quarantining for when their only child made the heartbreaking discovery.

St Louis County Police were called to the home last Thursday (local time) and confirmed the couple had died from Covid-19, according to local news station KSDK.

Neighbour Chuck Duy told KSDK a family member of the couple told him the mother recently had a suspected stroke.

"Supposedly she had gone to the hospital. They thought she had a stroke, but I guess it was due to Covid,” Mr Duy said.

The neighbour explained the man had already tested positive and was quarantining when his wife was sent home from hospital with a positive test result.

"She tested positive, but they sent her home and then her husband meanwhile was home with a positive test for Covid, so they both were quarantined downstairs in their bedroom in their basement," Mr Duy added.

The neighbour described the couple as “the nicest people” and he was concerned for their daughter.

“We were so happy they moved into the neighbourhood... to lose both parents at one time you know for an 11-year-old, it's really tragic," Mr Duy said.

The identities of the family have not been released.
