Four young children, two adults in hospital after car collided with horse float in country Victoria

Four children and two adults were injured and rushed to hospital after a van crashed into a horse float in country Victoria.

The collision happened on the Bolinda-Darraweit Road at Bolinda, near Romsey, 50km north of Melbourne, around 7pm on Sunday.

The driver of the Toyota Tarago, aged in his 40s, was trapped for 45 minutes before he was rescued and flown to the Alfred Hospital with leg injuries, Ambulance Victoria said.

Four children aged under 10 were taken to the Royal Children's Hospital with minor injuries. A fifth child, who was also passenger at the time of the collision, was not injured.

A woman aged in her 30s suffered bruising and was taken by road to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, in a stable condition.

The horses were not injured.

A police investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
