Four men charged after five pet horses shot dead


Four men have been charged after five former race horses that were being kept as pets on a private property in Western Australia were fatally shot.

Police say the men were travelling in three vehicles when they stopped and shot at the horses that were close to the roadside in Leinster, near Kalgoorlie, on January 24.

Two horses died instantly, while three others received critical injuries and had to be put down.

Two men aged 22 and a 20-year-old man were each charged with criminal damage and unlawful discharge of a firearm from a road.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with permitting possession of a firearm to a person without a licence.
