A head-on collision in Melbourne's west has left four dead and two fighting for life.
Police say the horror crash happened on Thursday at around 7.30pm when a sedan was travelling along Dohertys Road in Truganina crashed head-on with a small truck.
Six people were reportedly travelling in the silver sedan when it collided with the truck.
Two people died at the scene and a further two died in hospital.
Police said two more people involved, who were travelling in the car, were fighting for life in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The truck driver was in hospital for observation.
A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesman told the Herald Sun the driver and their five passengers had been trapped in the car.
“FRV and CFA crews worked together to extract all six occupants,” the spokesman said.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
It is the second crash involving four fatalities in as many days on Australian roads after another head-on collision in Queensland killed young parents and their two-year-old daughter.
