A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesman told the Herald Sun the driver and their five passengers had been trapped in the car.

“FRV and CFA crews worked together to extract all six occupants,” the spokesman said.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

It is the second crash involving four fatalities in as many days on Australian roads after another head-on collision in Queensland killed young parents and their two-year-old daughter.
