Feline behind 'Grumpy Cat' meme dies
The feline behind the “Grumpy Cat” meme has died.
Tardar Sauce, which made headlines around the world for appearing to have a grumpy face, died on Tuesday, according to her owners.
“Despite care from top professionals, as well as her loving family, Grumpy encountered complications from a recent urinary tract infection that unfortunately proved too tough for her to overcome,” a statement on the cat’s Twitter account reads.
“She passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, May 14, at home in the arms of mummy Tabatha (Bundesen).”
The statement adds the cat was not only a “cherished member of the family” but also “helped millions smile around the world even when times were tough”.
“Her spirit will continue to live on through her fans everywhere,” the statement reads.
