Former WWE star charged over shocking assault on junior wrestler

Former professional wrestler Eric Angle was arrested on a charge of simple assault after he allegedly lifted up a student by the neck in Pittsburgh.

Angle, brother of WWE star Kurt Angle, was at a Junior Wrestling Championships event held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, when he landed himself in hot water.

The 51-year-old was filmed allegedly lifting up one of the youth wrestlers by the neck and tossing him back down to the mat during an event.

Simple assault charges were filed after the authorities were alerted by the University of Pittsburgh police.

“I should have just walked away and let him get thrown out. Instead, I’m the one who embarrassed myself even more,” he told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.

Angle worked for the WWE and its developmental program from 2000 to 2003.
