Elderly woman wakes to find man standing over bed

A 92-year-old woman has managed to fight off an intruder in her bedroom in NSW's western region and police are calling for public assistance to find him.

The elderly woman was asleep in her home on Graf Street in Condobolin about 7.30am on Saturday when she was awoken by a man standing in her room.

As the intruder approached her in her bed, she pushed her emergency alert pendant, which led to her neighbour being notified.

She then fought off the man and he fled the home. Her neighbour came to her aid and police were called.

The woman sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital, while the police established a crime scene.

The man has been described as being aged in his 20s, with a thin build and dark coloured skin. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a baseball cap.

Officers from Central West Police District are conducting a full investigation and would like to speak with anyone who may have information that could assist.
