Drought-affected Queensland farmers lose thousands of cattle to floods

There are fears beef prices around the country will skyrocket following the North Queensland floods.

Hundreds of thousands of cattle are now dying, with some producers already having lost up to 80% of their livestock.

Flood waters swamped vast swathes of northwest Queensland, killing cattle in their thousands and leaving entire herds isolated and facing possible starvation.

The situation has become so desperate the military will drop fodder into isolated homesteads that have become islands in the wake of record rain.
