'Zero sympathy': Motorbike rider slammed online despite being hit by limo at lights

A motorbike rider has copped criticism after dash cam footage caught them being rammed by a limo at traffic lights on the Gold Coast.

Dashcam Owners Australia shared video of the incident, which occurred on Monday morning on Remembrance Drive at Surfers Paradise, on Facebook.

The motorbike rider is seen overtaking the limo, which slowly moves forward at a red light.

The bike comes to a stop but the limo knocks the rider, much to the shock of the people filming. The rider then appears to lash out and kick at the limo.

The driver and the rider appear to have a discussion about this before the light turns green.

Both vehicles move but the bike appears to stall or deliberately stops.

The limo then clips the bike knocking it to the ground.

The car drives off as the motorcyclist stands waving their arms in the air.

The video has more than 117,000 views, but many have turned on the motorbike rider claiming it was their fault.

One man wrote the bike rider deserved it and another added he had “zero sympathy” claiming the motorcyclist “deliberately stalled” at the green light.

“I’m a motorcyclist, but that was a blatant push in. I’m satisfied with the outcome,” another man wrote.

Others argued over whether the bike rider correctly lane filtered.

According to Queensland’s road rules, motorbikes can overtake slow or stationary vehicles as long as they are all travelling in the same direction.

However, in the video the motorbike rider overtakes from a right-turn lane – the other lanes including the one the limo is travelling in to the left are all going straight ahead.

“Biker deserved everything he got. Probably an arrogant cyclist until he got his motorbike,” one man wrote.

Not everyone was willing to blame the motorcyclist for what happened though.

“Regardless if the bike filtered wrong or not it does not give that driver the right to knock him off his bike,” one man wrote.

Another simple wrote: “everyone sucks here”.

Queensland Police has been contacted for comment.
