'Craziest Job of the Season': Australian Snake Catcher Removes Snake From Car on Highway

An Australian snake catcher was called out for a challenging job after a red-bellied black snake startled a couple when it slithered across their feet as they were driving along a Queensland highway.

Footage posted to Facebook shows Stuart McKenzie from Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 driving to the scene on Bruce Highway, where he carefully removed the “3.5-foot-long snake” from the couple’s car.

“This is hands-down one of the craziest jobs we have had this season,” McKenzie wrote in the video caption on Facebook. “It was lucky they didn’t crash,” he added.

STUART MCKENZIE: OK, this is hectic. We just had a frantic call for a couple with their four-wheel driving caravan driving along, and they had a bloody red-bellied black snake in their car. Not in the engine bay, not on the front of the windscreen, in their car while they're driving, so this should be interesting.

- Do you want me to bring the net?

- Yeah, he's trying to get out that side.

[HIGHWAY TRAFFIC NOISE]

STUART MCKENZIE: Gorgeous red-bellied black snake, what are you going to do, buddy, going to head out? You're not happy, I know. You're in a car, you don't belong in a car. Off you go, come on. Ooh, there he goes.
