Princess Eugenie's heartbreak as father-in-law battles with coronavirus

Princess Eugenie is said to be heartbroken after her father-in-law was diagnosed with the coronavirus.

George Brooksbank, the father of Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, is said to be in a "serious but stable” condition in London, according to the Daily Mail.

"It’s a traumatic time for Jack and Eugenie... George has been very sick but the whole family has been rallying round to help,” a source told the publication.

"They are hugely grateful for the excellent care that he has been receiving. They are thinking of all the other families who are being similarly affected at this time."

The news comes just days after it was reported that Princess Eugenie’s 71-year-old uncle and heir to the British throne, Prince Charles has recovered after contracting COVID-19.

“Having recently gone through the process of contracting this coronavirus – luckily with relatively mild symptoms – I now find myself on the other side of the illness, but still in no less a state of social distance and general isolation,” Charles said in a video message to the public.

He went on to detail the most ‘distressing’ aspect of contracting the virus, which saw him remain in complete isolation.

“As we are all learning, this is a strange, frustrating and often distressing experience when the presence of family and friends is no longer possible and the normal structures of life are suddenly removed,” he said.

“At such an unprecedented and anxious time in all our lives, my wife and I are thinking particularly of all those who have lost their loved ones in such very difficult and abnormal circumstances, and of those having to endure sickness, isolation and loneliness.”

Princess Eugenie’s sister, Princess Beatrice, has also been affected by the coronavirus, with her upcoming wedding plans being thrown into disarray.

Beatrice and her fiancé, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, were supposed to be walking down the aisle to say ‘I do’ on May 29th. It’s believed the couple have now postponed their wedding to a later date.
