Cop's selfless act for 'exhausted' child
A police officer has been praised for cradling a sleepy little boy taken into protective custody.
Clinton County Illinois Sheriff's Office, based in Carlyle in the US state of Illinois, shared a photo of the little boy being cradled by Detective McClaren on Facebook.
“The picture shows Detective McClaren watching cartoons with a sleeping child in our telecommunications center,” Acting Chief Deputy Dan Travous wrote.
“Our staff, including Deputy Davis who took the child into protective custody, cared for the child for over six hours until a family member was able to take over custody.”
He was taken into custody on Saturday. Police said he was up much of the night and was “exhausted”.
Police said Correctional Officer Litteken spent her own money buying the child diapers, a stuffed animal, and clean clothing.
“I don't write this to toot our own horn, but to try and show what sheriff offices and police departments all over the country do every day,” Deputy Travous wrote.
