Coles takes on popular Aldi products with 'unusual' promotion

Coles has announced its latest collection of Best Buys offers to rival Aldi’s Special Buys promotion ahead of Father’s Day weekend.

Among a host of its 30 products, revealed in Wednesday’s catalogue, are camping items the supermarket claims to rival the price and quality seen across top quality brands like Anaconda.

Set to appear on shop floors on Friday across 108 stores in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia, a range of affordable outdoor essentials will be on offer.

Shoppers will be able to pick up a four-person quick-clip dome tent for $59.99, a deluxe camp chair and hooded sleeping bag for $19.99 each, a bed with built in foot pump for $16.99 and a waterproof picnic blanket for $24.99.

Also included in the upcoming program is a folding light-weight table for $29.99, a rechargeable, waterproof mosquito lantern for $19.99, an LED headlamp for $9.99 and a six-pack of camp mats for $12.99.

The latest Best Buys program is being brought to an additional 20 supermarkets, which Coles said was due to the “popular demand” of its previous launches.

“Coles Best Buys aims to deliver exceptional value on new and exciting products that emulate top branded products our customers wouldn’t usually find at Coles,” Coles General Manager for Health and Home Jonathan Torr said.

“Coles Best Buys is quickly gaining momentum with shoppers for its great value and variety of products typically not found in supermarkets.”

“We know Aussies will be spending more time than ever before exploring our own backyard this summer so we’re delighted to offer customers great quality camping and outdoor gear, saving them hundreds on comparative products.”

Stores were selected for the Best Buys program based on the space it could allocate during the promotions, with products available only until they sell out.

The Coles four-person dome tent is slightly bigger than a similar line being offered by Aldi, while its chair is $5 cheaper.
