Coles chargers recalled over electric shock fears

A potentially dangerous household device has been recalled over fears it could cause users to experience an electric shock.

Coles announced on Tuesday it was recalling its own brand of Mobile USB Wall Chargers due to safety concerns.

The supermarket said five watt single USB port models sold from July 2017 onwards need to be recalled.

“Testing has found that the enclosure of the charger may separate and expose live parts,” Coles said.

“As a result this product has the potential to cause electric shock.”

The products are sold nationally at Coles Supermarkets, Coles Express and Coles Online.

Customers have been urged to stop using the wall charger “immediately” and return it to any Coles supermarket for a full refund.

Coles apologised for any inconvenience caused.
