Coalition closes in on Labor after ‘medivac bill’ passes through Parliament

The government has received a poll bounce to inch within striking distance of Labor.

The latest Ipsos opinion poll shows the Coalition trailing Labor by 51 to 49 per cent. This is the narrowest margin between the two major parties in over six months.

The boost in support comes after Scott Morrison spent a week attacking Bill Shorten over border protection and Labor’s support for Kerryn Phelps’ ‘medivac bill’, which brings sick asylum seekers to Australia.
