Car ripped in half as teen dies in suspected drag racing tragedy

Friends are leaving touching tributes to a teenage girl who died in what’s believed to be a drag race crash in Melbourne’s southeast.

Nikkita-Lee Wells, 17, has been identified as a victim after three cars including a white Holden Commodore wagon, a silver Holden Commodore sedan and a white Holden Calais sedan were seen driving along Stud Road in Rowville on Sunday about midday.

The Calais collided with the two others cars, killing Nikkita-Lee who was in the backseat. She died at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old woman, was interviewed on Monday. No charges have been laid.

The Commodore wagon also ripped in half after hitting a power pole while the other Commodore also crashed into a power pole.

All occupants in the other cars received minor injuries.

It’s believed all three cars were involved in a drag race and were seen travelling at high speeds prior to the crash.

A flower was left at the scene of the tragedy while others paid tribute to Nikkita-Lee on Facebook.
