Camilla's major blunder during traditional Māori greeting

She’s travelled all over the world on behalf of the Queen, but it seems even Camilla isn’t exempt from a fashion fail overseas.

The 72-year-old and her 71-year-old husband, Prince Charles, are currently on an eight-day tour of New Zealand, where they’ve been pictured visiting community-based projects, wine tasting and greeting crowds with smiles on their faces.

However, yesterday, while attending a welcome ceremony at Government House in Auckland, Camilla slipped-up leaving her barely unable to take part in the traditional Māori hongi - a national greeting which sees two people touch noses with each other.

The Duchess of Cornwall’s hat was so large that it totally eclipsed her face at the front, jutting out so far in front of her eyes that she was barely able to touch noses with a few of the attendees.

Two of the men looked visibly strained as they tried to manoeuvre their way around Camilla’s hat.

It’s a surprising blunder for the senior royal, especially considering this is her third joint visit to New Zealand with Prince Charles.

The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall are set to visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and Christchurch in the coming days, where according to their itinerary, they will see “how the community has rallied to support the families affected by the two Mosque attacks in the city in March”.

Prince Charles will then go on to visit Kaikōura to see how the 2016 earthquake affected the town, while Camilla will travel back to the UK.

After that, Prince Charles will visit Tuvalu and he’ll make his first trip to the Solomon Islands.
