Bunnings worker's 'beautiful' act for shopper: 'Makes my heart sing'
A Bunnings worker has been praised as a “true gentleman” after his kind act for an elderly shopper was caught on camera.
An image snapped by another customer shows the Bunnings worker named Tupou Ioane holding the pensioner’s hand as they walk through the carpark at a store in Rothwell, north of Brisbane.
“I wanted to share a photo that makes my heart sing. A worker from Bunnings at Rothwell accompanying an older lady to her car. They were having a lovely conversation and he didn't seem to mind that it took her a bit longer,” the witness posted on a local Facebook group on Thursday alongside the heartwarming photo.
“Well done to this young man for his kindness and compassion, he should be very proud of the person that he is.”
The woman praised Mr Ioane for being a “superstar” and said he should be “acknowledged because his humanity and kindness also reflects well on Bunnings”.
Bunnings staffer applauded over 'beautiful' act
The Facebook post has since been inundated with comments from people thanking the Bunnings staffer, saying it’s nice to see there is “still some kindness in the world”.
Numerous people described Mr Ioane’s actions as “beautiful” and deemed him a “great guy”. “Omg this is so nice. Well done. What a beautiful person you are,” one woman said.
“So good to see people caring for one another and going the extra mile,” another person wrote. “That’s just beautiful. It could be his mum one day, and he’d hope, I’m sure that someone would be kind to her,” someone else chimed in.
Several others said they had always found Bunnings staff to be “very helpful and curious”.
“I take a disability participant there and the staff are so accommodating. Friendly and happy to help! Well done Bunnings Rothwell,” one woman said.
Lesleigh Lepomme, Bunnings Rothwell Complex Manager, told Yahoo News Australia Mr Ioane is a “really valued member of our team who often goes out of his way to make a customer’s day”.
“We were pleased to see his kind act recognised. Providing customers with a great experience when shopping in our stores is something we work really hard at.”
