Bunnings issues urgent recall of popular gardening tool
Bunnings has announced an urgent recall of a popular electric leaf blower over a defect which can cause electric shock and injuries from sharp objects at high speed.
More than 30 batches of the Ozito Portable Electric Blower are being taken off shelves nationally, with fears the rotating impeller can break during use and rupture the casing, exposing live parts.
Bunnings says the product has led to a number of consumers being injured, and is urging customers to stop using the machine immediately and unplug it from the socket.
Bunnings General Manager of Merchandise Adrian Pearce said they take the safety of their customers very seriously.
"Bunnings supported our supplier Ozito with their initial voluntarily recall and since then the recall has been advertised many times with the current advertising designed to address any outstanding purchases made between 2009 and 2015."
"We encourage any remaining owners of this model to return the product to their nearest Bunnings," Mr Pearce said.
All units of the Ozito Model #OZBL1800WA marked with the following batch numbers (which can be found near the air intake vent) are covered by this recall: 0901A, 0901C, 0903E, 0905C, 0906D, 0907D, 0908D, 1003, 1008, 1009, 1010, 1011, 1012, 1102, 1103, 1104, 1105, 1107, 1108, 1109, 1111, 1112, 1202, 1204, 1205, 1206, 1207, 1208, 1209,1211,1212.
Anyone with an affected product is asked to stop using the blower immediately.
Customers are advised to contact Ozito on 1800 069 486 for Australia or 0508 069 486 for New Zealand to obtain a reference number for a replacement blower or full refund.
