Brutal road rage attack in supermarket carpark caught on camera

A 20-year-old man has been charged with allegedly attacking a 72-year-old Queensland driver with a baseball bat.

CCTV released by Queensland police shows a man step out of a blue Mercedes Benz on Waldron Street, Yarrabilba on November 7 and take a baseball bat from the backseat before smashing a grey Holden Cruz.

The 72-year-old driver received lacerations to his face, caused from when the glass shattered, police said.

Police allege the incident occurred after an earlier verbal altercation between the victim and a female passenger of the Mercedes.

On December 15, police arrested the 20-year-old man at a Tamborine home. Drugs and property were also seized during the search.

He was charged with one count each of assault whilst armed, entering a vehicle with intent, wilful damage, possessing property suspected as proceeds and four counts of possessing drugs.

The man is expected to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on December 16.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who was at the shopping centre carpark who witnessed the events or has recordings to come forward.
