Body found in search for missing kayaker who disappeared in Queensland creek

A body has been found in the search for a kayaker who disappeared while paddling up a Queensland creek on Easter Sunday.

Chris Dicker, 28, was last seen in Tallebudgera Creek on the Gold Coast at about 7am on Sunday but his kayak was later found near a bridge without a paddle.

It is unclear if the kayak washed ashore or was dragged to that location. Mr Dicker’s family were also concerned about his disappearance as he is intellectually impaired and has a medical condition.

On Monday morning, a Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed to Yahoo News Australia a body had been found.

A local resident discovered the body of a deceased male in the vicinity of the bridge around 6.20am and notified police.

Residents said the creek is notorious for strong currents and is known to have sucked kayakers out to sea before.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
