Aussie tourists film moment angry elephant rams car on safari

Terrifying video has shown an elephant charging towards a group of tourists during a safari tour inside a Jeep.

The wild animal appeared less than impressed as it ran at speed towards the vehicle, which contained several petrified passengers believed to be Australian, 7 News reported.

The rare encounter took place in South Africa, where the tour guide reversed the windowless car in an effort to clear it from the massive beast’s path of destruction.

Clearly furious with the intruders, the elephant could be heard making a trumpeting noise while flapping its ears out to the side.

The dramatic event was understood to have unfolded on Tuesday in the safari capital.

Seemingly less concerned with the threat to their safety, some passengers opted to get their phones out and start filming the experience.

Many reacted to the nail-biting scenes in the comments on a video posted to Facebook on Wednesday.

“Not even a full grown male. Wouldn’t have ended well with that happening,” someone said.

Many criticised the tourists who chose to film the event on their phone.

“Getting attacked my an elephant? Get the Snapchat ready,” one person wrote.

“Quick the elephant trying to kill us, grab [your] phone,” another added.
