Buying into the housing market has been a struggle for many Aussies in recent years, but one man's search for the perfect home just got a whole lot easier.
The lucky South Australian scored himself a whopping $20 million in Tuesday night's Oz Lotto draw, putting a happy end to his search for the most affordable home loan.
The man from Findon, Adelaide, held the only division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1507 taking out the multi-million dollar win, much to his and his wife's surprise. The couple have been on the hunt for their first family home, which they can now purchase worry-free – and without the help of the bank.
"We’ve been wanting to buy our first home for a while. We’ve been looking for a loan from different banks and there have been so many ups and downs. Not anymore!" he told The Lott on Wednesday.
"Last night, I remembered I had a ticket and thought I’d take a look. I was so shocked. I just turned the phone over to my wife and said, 'have a look'."
The lucky winner said his wife "started screaming and crying" and said his "chest was pumping all night".
"What a moment! We couldn’t believe it. I can’t believe how much we cried," he said, adding he thought it was a dream.
Along with buying their first home, helping his family and friends are among his top priorities. The Adelaide man said his win is "unbelievable".
