Another elite private school filmed singing sexist chant

The culture of another elite private school is being questioned after a video posted to social media showed the students singing a sexist chant that has been described as “disgusting”.

The principal of a Victorian Catholic school has written to parents after the video surfaced on the weekend, the ABC reported.

It’s believed the video was initially posted to Snapchat before being shared more widely on social media.

The chant was the same one that students at the elite St Kevin's College in Toorak were filmed singing last year, which helped trigger a Four Corner’s investigation into the school highlighting sexual misconduct by staff.

In the latest incidence, the video was reportedly filmed on a party bus as students were on their way home from an 18th birthday party on Saturday night.

The principal at Catherine McAuley College, Brian Turner, told parents it involved students from the school, as well as students from other schools.

"Everyone understands the gravity of the behaviour and how these poor choices reflect on them personally and the College community," Mr Turner wrote in a letter to parents.

“The College wants to reinforce that the lyrics of this song and any associated culture are disgusting and in no way represent the values of Mercy Education Limited or Catherine McAuley College.”

The chant is particularly demeaning to women.

“I wish that all the ladies, were holes in the road,” the lyrics say.

“And if I was a dump truck, I'd fill them with my load.”

Speaking to Nine News, the college’s Vice Captains Holly Normoyle and Abe Sheahan condemned the singing of the song.

“Clearly this behaviour on this occasion in the video is offensive and disgusting,” Miss Normoyle said.

“We would like to make it clear that this incident is not a true representation of our college, of our culture and by no means does it reflect who we are.”
