Airbnb guest shocked by 'creepy' discovery behind bed: 'OMG get out'

One woman's Airbnb getaway with her friends went from exciting to creepy in a matter of minutes after she made an unsettling discovery.

The shocked US woman shared a video tour of her accommodation, featuring one bedroom with a large dent in the wall and what looked like splatters of blood on the walls and carpet.

“Just checked into our Airbnb for a silly girls weekend," wrote 30-year old Emily Holland on a TikTok post.

The 15-second clip, which has been viewed over a million times since it was posted, also featured someone saying "Oh my gosh" in the background.

Some viewers expressed shock and concern, even urging the woman to "call the cops".

Video divides viewers

"Nope I would be checking out bye," wrote one concerned viewer.

"OMG sis get OUT," commented another.

Other TikTok users found some humour in the situation.

"Murder mystery themed, nice," one person wrote.

More sceptical viewers questioned whether the red splatters were really blood, stating that dried blood would never be so red.

"Either there was a murder five minutes before you arrived or it's red polish," one viewer commented.

A closer look

Holland posted two follow-up videos after checking out of the Airbnb, opening one clip with the statement, "I survived".

She continued to give viewers a more detailed account of what had happened during her now infamous check-in video, revealing that the mysterious splatter covered a larger area than the original video showed and in some places was a brown colour.

"Also, let the records show, I never one time said that it was blood. Either way, it looked like it... it’s kinda creepy looking, but I never once said that it was blood. That was all of you," Holland stated.

"I looked into the closet for bodies and I found none."

Yahoo has reached out to Airbnb for comment but has not received a response at the time if publication.

Airbnb, however, does have a Rebook and Refund Policy that asks holiday makers to report any travel issues "no later than 72 hours after discovery" and the company will provide a full or partial refund if it determines that a travel issue has disrupted the stay.
