'Absolute disgrace': Photos reveal 'disgusting' school holiday vandalism
A state school on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast has suffered a “distressing” setback ahead of the school year with several classrooms damaged by vandals.
Meridan State College shared pictures of the damage on Facebook on Friday.
“It is with great sadness that we share with you photos of just some of the damage that occurred at the school over the holidays,” the school wrote.
“The police are investigating this terrible incident.”
Pictures show red and black paint splattered on the white and blackboards, walls, shelves and windows. Profanities are scribbled across an air conditioner.
Books are strewn across the floor along with stationary.
The school later said painters had been brought in and the carpet replaced, however it’s of “unnecessary cost to the school” and it’s taken “over a week to clean the mess”.
It added the man who replaced the carpet had his truck graffitied while replacing it.
The pictures have been shared more than 490 times with more than 60 comments.
“So sad and disappointing,” one woman wrote.
It was also labelled, “heart breaking”, “disgraceful” and “pretty low and disrespectful”.
“This is absolutely disgusting,” another woman wrote.
The school has looked into the cost of installing CCTV.
A Queensland Police spokesman told Yahoo7 no one has been arrested or charged over the vandalism.
