Netflix users warned not to fall for this email scam
NSW Police are warning of a phishing scam in a fake Netflix email.
Police took to Facebook to share a screenshot of the email, which contains “Suspension of your netflix membership” in the subject line.
“We recently failed to validate your payment information, we hold on record for your account therefore we need to ask you to complete a brief validation process in order to verify your billing and payment details,” the email reads.
It then provides a link with what appears to be a Netflix.com address, but police say it links to a phishing site.
Australian cybersecurity company MailGuard wrote the “phishing scam goes after credit card info”.
MailGuard added the scam was “very well executed with high quality graphical elements in the email message and phishing page”.
“So, it’s easy to imagine that it could potentially trick a lot of unsuspecting people,” MailGuard wrote.

It is not the first time Netflix customers have been hit with a scam in 2018.
In January, many were targeted with another phishing email asking for credit card details.
About 10 million Netflix customers were also hit by a scam in November 2017 asking for credit card information with threats the provider would suspend accounts.
Netflix has been contacted for comment.
