'Nostradamus from the Balkans': A blind mystic's psychic predictions for 2018 revealed
Before she died, a blind mystic predicted two major events for 2018. And with her track record, they could prove to be true.
Bulgarian Baba Vanga died in 1996 at 85 years old and is well known among conspiracy theorists. Many claim she predicted major world events such us 9/11, the rise of ISIS, the Boxing Day tsunami and Brexit.
Before she died Baba - dubbed the “Nostradamus from the Balkans” - left predictions up to the 51st Century, when she believed the world would end, The Sun reports.
When it comes to 2018, she predicted two major events.
They were that China will continue its ascension to be the world’s next leading “super power”, taking over from the US, and that “a new form of energy” will be discovered on Venus.
While they are just predictions, Baba Vanga's well-heeled prescience could again be proved correct.
China
It may be hard to picture a bigger world power than the US but according to Baba Vanga, the next big power could be China.
The country's economy has been steadily expanding over the last few years and in the last 47 years has increased its percentage in the world economy from 4.1 per cent to 15.6 per cent.
At the same time, the US is expected to fall from 16.7 per cent of the world's economy to 14.9 per cent by 2025.
Venus
Unlike Mars, there are no current plans to send a space mission to Venus.
However, the Parker Solar Probe, named after the solar astrophysicist Eugene Parker, is scheduled to launch in July 2018 and will investigate the outer corona of the sun.
It won’t land on Venus but it will use the planet’s gravitational well to slingshot itself around the sun.
The craft’s mission is to determine the structure of the magnetic fields at the source of solar winds, trace the flow of energy that heats the plasma surrounding the sun and explore dusty plasma and its influence on solar wind and energetic particle formation.
Previous predictions
Just how did Baba Vanga predict these world changing events?
She is said to have predicted 9/11 by claiming “two steel birds” would attack the “American brethren.”
She reportedly said: “Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush, and innocent blood will be gushing.”
It's also claimed she foresaw Brexit when she said Europe as we know it will "cease to exist" by the end of 2016.
She also warned of the rise of an extremist Muslim army that would invade Europe, thought to refer to the rise of ISIS.
While those predictions seem pretty spot on, such as they are, last year it was claimed she said Barack Obama would be the "last American president", falsely leading some to believe Donald Trump wouldn't be sworn in.
Future event predictions
Baba warned the world about the end of world hunger by 2028, Mars colonies gaining nuclear weapons by 2256 and Earth becoming uninhabitable from 2341.
She also predicted ice caps will melt from 2033 to 2045, causing ocean levels to rise; that the rise of cloning will mean doctors can cure any disease; that between 2262 and 2304 we will crack time travel; and from 4302 to 4674 humans will be immortal and having been assimilated by aliens.
She also predicted in 5079 the universe will end.
