'She'll be missed forever': Bride dies just hours after her wedding
A New Zealand woman has died just hours after her wedding.
Jamieka McCarthy-Harford, 26, died in Auckland on Saturday after falling ill during her ceremony and dying from a bacterial infection linked to meningitis, News Hub reports.
She was married in an outdoor ceremony on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, north of Auckland.
Her husband Alistair said his wife’s death was a “huge shock” and has been “incredibly hard to process”.
“She was taken from us without notice by a horrible, deadly disease,” he said.
A family statement said “Jamieka was so happy to be married and the wedding was a beautiful, happy occasion surrounded by love.”
Her family described the 26-year-old as “the most kind-hearted person” and that she always put others before herself.
“She will be missed forever,” they said.

On Facebook, Mrs McCarthy-Harford’s mother Linda posted a tribute to her daughter.
“Born 13.9.1991,” the post reads.
“Married 9.12.2017. Taken from us 10.12.2017. Our baby girl, gone too soon.”
The Auckland Regional Public Health Service said it is investigating the death which was likely caused by meningococcal disease and is working closely with the family to prevent any transmission.
