Would you pay someone $2000 to toilet-train your toddler?

Parents have been criticised for "outsourcing" children's potty training and paying up to $2000 for the service.

Some of the experts, dubbed "poo supernannys," charge thousands for the service, including Samantha Allen who claims she can have kids trained in just two days.

A UK family even advertised for a potty trainer for their three-year-old child and offered to pay $100 an hour to have her taught in time for the holidays.

The parents, from Surrey in the UK, posted the advertisement on a childcare website, saying they needed their daughter to be toilet trained by December 23rd.

"We are very conscious that our daughter should be using a toilet by now, and with the in laws coming over for Christmas, I am desperate to get her fully using the toilet," the ad read.

"We already have a housekeeper who takes care of our daughter day to day, but we would like someone to solely concentrate on getting her using the toilet."

"Both of us work full time in demanding jobs, and we have previously tried to toilet train her, but unfortunately due to our busy careers we’ve realised we simply do not have the time to do so."

The family said they were seeking someone with ten years experience in childcare.

"10 hours of training, over five days per week would be ideal, but we are flexible and are willing to be negotiable for the right person," they said.

While some have praised the couple for admitting they don't have the time, others have slammed the concept as "ludicrous."

"They both say they have busy lives and busy careers and we're in the outsourcing economy. Why have a child if you don't want to do the things that need to be done with children?" 3AW's Tom Elliott said.

"I think it's wrong. It's part of growing up and parenthood. You don't hand it over to other people."

Advertising guru Jane Caro was of the same opinion, but said the advertisement did not surprise her.

"This is a proud old British tradition. Most upper class British children were brought up entirely by nannies and were seen for half an hour in the evening by their parents," she told Sunrise.

"So it doesn't surprise me that we're going back to the future."

A two-day training session with Samantha Allen from NYC Potty Training Inc costs costs $1,750, Mamamia reported.
