Dad fined for singing 90s hit song too loudly in his car

A Canadian man's decision to belt out a 1990’s dance hit while inside his car has landed him a $150 ticket for being too loud in public.

With the windows mostly rolled up, Taoufik Moalla inserted the C+C Music Factory's CD into his car and made his way to the grocery store.

Just a few hundred metres after leaving his Montreal home, he began belting out the lyrics to ‘Gonna Make You Sweat - (Everybody Dance Now).

Seconds later, the 38-year-old “heard the sirens”.

Thinking they just wanted to get around him, the Montreal man continued on his way to the grocery store.

After the sirens failed to disappear, he said he realised it was his car they were looking to stop.

"They asked me if I was yelling and I said no, ‘I was singing’," Mr Moalla told the Canadian Press.

Moments later, the other officer returned and handed the father-of-two a fine for screaming.

"I don't think it was too loud, I was happy, I was in a good mood and I was just repeating the refrain Everybody Dance Now,” Mr Moalla emphasised.

"It's a retro song that reminds me of youth.”

The fine has since been formally contested, however Mr Moalla won’t get his day in court for at least six months.
