WATCH: Man 'steals ambulance from hospital', leads police on wild chase

We're used to seeing ambulances speeding down roads with sirens blazing, on their way to treating injured or seriously ill people.

But footage has emerged of an ambulance speeding for quite a different reason – escaping the law.

Police officers in Macomb County, Michigan, responded to a call that an ambulance had been stolen from a local hospital on Saturday.

In the footage, a police car is seen following the allegedly stolen ambulance down a highway before the ambulance driver decides to veer off-course.

When the police car tries to cut the ambulance off, its driver takes a sudden right turn.
