WATCH: Man 'steals ambulance from hospital', leads police on wild chase
We're used to seeing ambulances speeding down roads with sirens blazing, on their way to treating injured or seriously ill people.
But footage has emerged of an ambulance speeding for quite a different reason – escaping the law.
Police officers in Macomb County, Michigan, responded to a call that an ambulance had been stolen from a local hospital on Saturday.
In the footage, a police car is seen following the allegedly stolen ambulance down a highway before the ambulance driver decides to veer off-course.
He takes a sharp right, driving around a stretch of parkland in an effort to escape the cops.
That’s when the police simply wait in the realisation the driver of the ambulance will eventually have to get back onto the highway.
Police eventually caught the suspect further down the road, according to USA Today.
