'Time to eat, but not to fix my power': Drink dumped on electrician grabbing lunch after 12-hour shift

An electrician has had a drink dumped on him by a woman who yelled "you have time to eat, but not fix my power... you make me sick".

The incident is said to have happened two days after Hurricane Irma struck, when Daniel Wilson, a father of three, stopped by Taco Bell in Georgia, US, to get some food after a 12-hour shift.

It was then that an unknown woman threw a drink in his face because her power was still out, US publication Covington News reported.

Covington city manager Leigh Anne Knight posted a statement about the incident on Facebook involving the electrician working on the city's disrupted power lines.

“I realise everyone wants their power back on because as long as most of us have been alive we have not had to worry about reading by candlelight, or building a fire to cook on or stay warm by, but does that mean we can't live without it for a few days?,” she said.

“While you feel slighted and that you deserve to have everything immediately, he has been willingly showing up for long hours, doing difficult work and trying to be of service to you and the community.

"I am truly appalled at how anyone can do such an act of meanness.”

Mr Wilson's wife told US broadcaster 11Alive he was too shocked to do anything and just walked away.

It's understood he has worked for the city for more than 10 years and had no idea who the woman was.

Police are unable to investigate, particularly because there is no video footage of the incident.

Mr Wilson commented on a Facebook post about the incident and said he has been overwhelmed by the support from everyone.

"I am truly blown away by the all the love and support I'm getting from everyone," he said

"I'm blessed with the best family, friends and work family anyone could ever ask for.

"I can assure you that all of this support and gratitude has had a far greater impact on me and my family than anything negative that sorry excuse for a lady did," he said.

"I don't know how to begin to thank you all for having my back like this. There are truly no words to describe how appreciative I am."
