Ariana Grande should have stayed on to visit injured fans, Piers Morgan said
TV presenter Piers Morgan has copped online backlash for criticising Ariana Grande's decision to leave Manchester a day after the suicide bombing at the end of her Monday night concert.
The pop star left the UK on Tuesday, after the attack at the Manchester Arena killed 22 people and left 119 with injuries.
Mr Morgan, responding to musician Katy Perry’s tweet about the Queen visiting victims of the bombing, said Grande should have stuck around.
“God bless the Queen and her kind heart,” Katy Perry tweeted with a photo of the Queen at the bedside of a victim.
“Agreed,” Mr Morgan responded.
“Might have been nice if Ariana Grande had stayed on to do the same.”
One Twitter user suggested the pop star was dealing with trauma following the explosion, but Mr Morgan said “not as much as those killed and wounded.”
“She should have stayed to visit her injured fans,” he said.
Mr Morgan then tweeted if he was in Grande’s situation he would have “100 per cent” stayed to visit.
The pop star has reportedly offered to pay for the funerals of the victims of the tragedy.
She has also suspended the rest of her European tour.
