WATCH: Reversing car nearly mows down toddler
A toddler is lucky to be alive after a driver began reversing at speed, oblivious to the young family crossing the road.
Pushing a pram with the toddler walking alongside, heart-stopping footage shows the mother start crossing the road in Crowborough, East Sussex.
It is thought the black hatchback was trying to avoid an oncoming truck when they shifted into reverse, unaware how close they were to tragedy.
The toddler, who was a couple of steps in front of the pram, was standing behind the car as it started backing up.
With only metres to spare, the toddler was sent frantically running behind as the mother desperately smacks on the side of the car in a bid to alert the driver.
The trio was left unscathed, however, the furious woman smacked on the windscreen pointing out how close they were to driving over a child.
