'Sign guy's' dramatic facial expressions steal show at Cyclone Debbie briefing
The sign language interpreter who went viral during a Cyclone Debbie press briefing has stolen Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk's thunder again on Wednesday.
Brisbane native, Mark Cave, sent social media into meltdown on Tuesday due to his entertaining facial expressions and quickly got the moniker #SignGuy.
Many social media users fell in love with his exuberant signing during the important cyclone updates.
Viewers hailed his dramatic signing style as “hypnotic” and “mesmerizing”.

Others have also been vocal about Mr Cave’s ability to raise awareness of Auslan, which is the official sign language for the deaf community in Australia.
“Not many people know Auslan, Australian Sign Language, is a real language just like French or Mandarin,” the talented translation specialist told News Corp.
“A lot of people think it’s making faces, but it’s actually got a syntactic or grammatical meaning behind it.”
Growing up with deaf parents, Mr Cave said the language became second nature to him.
“I was fortunate enough to have deaf parents, so I was brought up with the language,” he said.
“I went and I studied and became accredited to become a professional level interpreter.”
Mr Cave currently works for Deaf Services Queensland interpreting for people who are deaf or have a mental illness.
