TV presenter hailed as 'national heroine' for calming crying baby on air

Breakfast presenter Rachel Burden was interviewing mum Emma Blinkhorn and a breastfeeding expert on live television when five-month-old Lily May unexpectedly burst into tears.

Talk about poor timing.

Despite her best efforts Emma could not calm the infant so mother-of-four Rachel came to the rescue and stepped in immediately.

She began by calmly rocking the child and within mere seconds the crying miraculously ended.

Her co-host and father-of-two Charlie Stayt then held the baby during the end of the segment as he attempted to grab his script.

“I promise we’re listening to what you’re saying but I’m afraid your daughter is fast taking my job including my script,” the 54-year-old quipped.

Following the heartwarming exchange, impressed viewers took to social media hailing the Rachel as a "baby whisperer".

“You are now a national heroine!” one viewer proclaimed.

However some have spoken out in opposition stating that they thought Rachel and Charlie should of encouraged Emma to feed in the studio.

“I was frustrated at the BBC Breakfast segment on breastfeeding today: baby clearly wanted to feed, why wasn’t mum supported to do so?!” one viewer on Twitter mused.

This comes merely weeks after BBC viewers were left in stitches when a guest expert was interrupted live on air by his own children.
