Woman caught smuggling boyfriend out of Venezuelan jail in pink suitcase

A woman has been arrested while trying to smuggle her boyfriend out of a Venezuelan prison in a pink suitcase.

José Antonio Anzoátegui, was serving nine years and eight months Puente Ayala prison in Anzoategui state for stealing a car and trying to flee, local media reported.

Antonieta Robles Saouda, 25, went to visit him and brought a pink suitcase and her six-year-old daughter to the prison.

Guards became suspicious when Ms Souda struggled with the weight of the luggage and demanded she open it.

Inside, they found her lover bent in double and twisted with clothes around him.

Anzoátegui returned to his cell and his girlfriend, Ms Saouda, was detained and is expected to be charged.

The girl was put in the care of social services.
