Julie Bishop almost gets hit by plane during live TV interview, remains unfazed

Julie Bishop is well known for her steely stare during intense questioning, and the Foreign Minster remained equally unflinching and on point during a live television interview when an Airbus A380 almost collided with her.

The unflappable Bishop remained unaffected during an appearance on Sky News despite the looming Qantas mega-jet heading her way.

Bishop, who was standing on a runway during the interview, did not make any attempt to move out of the plane's path either.

At one tense point during the nail-biting footage it appears are though the Foreign Minster could easily be sucked into the huge jet engine, however, Bishop remained unfazed and poised.

Since the footage was first posted online it’s gone viral with Bishop being hailed as “unflinching”.

The politician was at Sydney airport for the launch of G'Day USA 2017, an initiative established to support Australian and US relations.

Bishop was fielding questions on incoming US President Trump when the huge plane began creeping towards her.

At first glance it appeared a safe distance away but it steadily edged its way towards her before finally turning and facing in her direction.

At one point the wing of the massive aircraft can be seen passing directly behind her head, and even then Bishop’s focus remains unaltered.

Seven News Online contacted Bishop’s office to confirm the authenticity of the vision and that Bishop was unharmed during the "close call".

One thing is for certain, Bishop made sure her point was not only made but also heard loud and clear, even over the roaring jet engines.
