Queensland police officer accidentally fires gun at Police Remembrance Day March
A Bundaberg police officer has accidentally discharged his firearm into the ground, moments before a Remembrance Day March was due to begin in Queensland.
According to reports the Road Policing Unit officer was standing beside his motorcycle at the time the incident occurred.
He was reportedly conducting a gun safety check when the the weapon fired one bullet into the nearby bitumen.
The incident happened in the car park of the Uniting Church on Barolin St just before 10am.
No one was injured and an internal investigation has been launched.
Vigils for fallen police officers were held all over the state on Thursday morning.
Members of the public gathered to attended their local services to stop and remember the fallen officers.
